2015 FIDE Arbiters Seminar in Melbourne organised by Chess Victoria
From
28 February to 1 March 2015 a seminar for the training of the FIDE
Arbiters was organized in Melbourne, Australia, by Chess Victoria, in
cooperation with the Australian Chess Federation and FIDE Arbiters’
Commission under the auspices of FIDE.
The
venue of the Workshop was the Melbourne Chess Club in Melbourne.
The
lecturers were IA N Y Wong (SIN), and IA Peter Tsai (AUS)
Vice-President of Chess Victoria.
The
lectures were in English language.
The
subjects that were discussed during the lectures included Laws
of Chess, tournament rules, systems of games, tie breaks, regulations
for the rating and over-the-board titles, swiss system and pairing
rules, regulations for the titles of the arbiters, use of the
electronic clocks, the
anti-cheating guideline and the disciplinary regulations for
arbiters. It also include incidents that happened during the games
and the Arbiter’s decisions.
Seven
(7) participants from two (2) federations (Australia & Botswana)
participated in the seminar and received certificates of attendance
at the end of the seminar.
The
following succeeded in the examination and they will be awarded a
norm of the FIDE Arbiter:

FIDE Arbiters Commission
has approved the 2015 FIDE Arbiters Seminar in Melbourne. Details are
as follows:
Dates: Saturday 28th February and
Sunday 1st March 2015
Time: 8:00am –
6:00pm
Venue: Melbourne Chess Club, 66 Leicester Street,
Fitzroy, Victoria 3065.
Lecturers: IA N Y Wong and IA Peter
Tsai
Participation fee: $300 (FIDE Arbiter Examination
included). For participants living in Australia, Chess Victoria will
subsidise $200 of the fee, meaning they have to pay only
$100.
Seminar topics:
a) Laws of Chess.
b) Tournament
Rules.
c) System of Games, tie breaks.
d) Regulations for the
rating and the over-the-board titles.
e) Swiss system and pairing
rules.
f) Regulations for the titles of the Arbiters.
g) Use of
the electronic clocks.
h) Examination.
